Ooh, Francisco. That's Fun To Say.

Our most recent stop on the long and winding road was San Francisco, land of the San Franciscans. The Giants won and we were able to see some great views of the city from a giant building. Get it? Giant. Good enough.

p.s. The garlic fries are a staple food at any Giants home game, and me-oh-my are they
expensive
delicious.

Differences in Opinion

Nate loves the sea because it makes him feel so small. I don't love the sea at all for the same reason.

Tenting

A friend told us about a special camping spot on the coast of California that we got to try out last night. To get there, we drove three miles on a dirt road through some of the densest forest we've ever seen. On the other side, we found the campground, nestled in the long grass right on the edge of the ocean. We pitched our tent within viewing distance of the waves and the sun setting over the sea. We stayed up late, standing around the campfire and laughing at our own jokes -- which were hilarious, as always. It was the perfectest of nights.

Through Oregon

We're four days into our coastal road trip from Missoula down to the San Francisco Bay area. We've finally escaped the Oregon rain and made it into California. It was beautiful driving and camping all the way here with many mixtapes poorly mumbled along to. And look, we even made a few friends.

Preparation

We have procrastinated all week in preparing for our road trip. So today we are busy packing, buying camping food, double checking our road map and making last minute trips to REI. I even mowed my lawn and cut a few lilac blooms from the backyard. It all seems like a lot now. Preparing for this two-week trip in one day is leaving me overwhelmed, but it will all feel worth it once we're on the road tomorrow morning. Keeping our fingers crossed that we can fit all that we need to do into today before we go the Missoula Spring League championship game tonight.

Canoe Take Two

In all the hubbub of posting camping photos, we neglected to include a snapshot of canoeing. And that was undoubtedly a highlight. The small pond was filled with Canada Geese and Mallard Ducks and to our surprise, it was warm enough to swim in all afternoon. As expected, we carelessly ignored the use of sunscreen and returned to camp with some pretty nasty burns.

Clearwater Camping

Things to bring camping: food, frisbee, friends, Farkle, and fffffcards.

Our two-day camping trip to Clearwater National Forest was a real celebration of our first week out of school. We strapped a canoe to the top of the Outback and packed a cooler full of burrito-makings, marshmallows and two-dozen cans of Blue Sky soda. We won't tell you where the campground is but we will tell you that the last two days included several hours of canoeing, hiking, and swimming (and skinny-dipping). The first night was so clear we were even able to sleep without the rain fly which made for some excellent star-gazing. For Nate and I, this was all in preparation for our big road trip coming up next week which is preparation for a summer full of more camping with some of our best friends.
